Day 1 – 2

Surgery & Hospital Stay

Surgery takes 4–6 hours under general anesthesia. You wake up in your hospital room with a light compression dressing. Mild discomfort managed with prescribed medication. Nursing team monitors you around the clock. Most patients rest comfortably and sleep well.

Day 3 – 5

Peak Swelling & Bruising

This is the most intense phase visually. Swelling and bruising are at their peak — this is completely normal and expected. You transition to the hotel. Daily medical checkups continue. Rest, cold compresses, and head elevation are key. Most patients are surprised by how little pain they feel relative to how things look.

Day 6 – 9

Visible Improvement

Swelling begins to reduce noticeably. Bruising shifts from purple to yellow-green — a sign of healing. Week 3 – 4

Back to Daily Life

Most patients return to work and social activities. Approximately 70–80% of swelling has resolved. Friends and colleagues notice you look refreshed and well-rested — but cannot identify why. Light exercise resumes. Avoid strenuous activity, heavy lifting, and direct sun on incisions.

How much does it cost? +

Deep Plane Facelift and Neck Lift together cost $6,500 with the head surgeon or $4,500 with the surgical team. The price includes pre-surgery tests, surgery, nursing care, medications, meals, a 4-star hotel for up to 7 nights, airport transfers, an interpreter and your coordinator. International flights are not included.

How many days do I need to stay in Vietnam? +

We recommend planning for 7–10 days total. Surgery day plus 2–3 nights hospital stay, followed by recovery at a hotel near the hospital (up to 7 nights included in the package). Most international patients fly home comfortably by day 10–12. We will advise based on your individual recovery progress before you travel.

When is it safe to fly after surgery? +

Most patients fly home between day 7 and day 10 post-surgery. Long-haul flights (over 10 hours) are generally safe after day 9–10. Your medical team will confirm your clearance before you book your return flight. We always recommend a direct or minimal-connection route for comfort.

Will the swelling and bruising be visible when I fly home? +

By day 10–14, significant swelling and bruising have typically resolved. Most patients are comfortable in public with light makeup or a scarf. Around 70–80% of swelling subsides within the first 3 weeks; final results are visible at 3–6 months. We provide a compression garment to support healing during travel.

Will the scars be visible? +

Incisions are placed entirely within the natural hairline, in front of and behind the ear, following the ear's natural contours. When healed, they are not visible with normal hair styling.

At Medihope, all closures use hidden suture technique — sutures are placed beneath the skin surface so no stitch lines are visible externally. We use absorbable (self-dissolving) sutures, meaning there is no suture removal appointment needed. Scars mature and fade over 6–12 months.

Do I need to bring someone with me? +

No. Our dedicated nursing team provides 1-on-1 care from arrival through discharge — many of our international patients travel alone with full confidence. A companion is welcome but never necessary.

What type of anesthesia is used? +

We offer flexible anesthesia options based on your preference: general anesthesia, sedation (twilight anesthesia), or local anesthesia with sedation. Our board-certified anesthesiologist will discuss the best option for you during your pre-operative consultation. The procedure takes approximately 4–6 hours. Pre-operative assessments including blood work, ECG, and health history review are completed before surgery to ensure your safety.

How is Medihope’s Deep Plane different from a regular facelift or SMAS lift? +

There are three levels of facelift surgery:

Traditional facelift — only tightens the skin. Results look pulled and last 3–5 years.

SMAS facelift — tightens the SMAS muscle layer but does not release the retaining ligaments. Better than skin-only, but limited in how far tissue can be repositioned.

Deep Plane with 4-Ligament Release (Medihope’s technique) — releases all four key retaining ligaments (zygomatic, masseteric, mandibular, and cervical), allowing the entire facial muscle and fat layer to be fully repositioned as one unit. This lifts the cheeks, corrects jowls, defines the jawline, and improves the neck — producing natural, three-dimensional results that last 10–15 years. No skin stretching. No “operated” look.
